Following on from the success of the 29th International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA2024), Dr. Rewa Wright presented a curated selection of animated short films from the ISEA screened as a guest program in the prestigious Ars Electronica Festival in Linz Austria, 3-9 September. This highly experimental and artistically innovative selection was originally part of the peer reviewed ‘Constellations’ animation program (curated by Rewa), showcasing exciting technical and creative methods in expanded animation including motion capture, mixed reality, audio-reactive motion, creative coding and virtual reality. 14 animated films from a talented array of Australian and International artists were screened at the new 8K facility at Johannes Kepler University. Blending Indigenous and Western animation epistemologies, the artists represented were: A. Bill Miller, Greg Bennett, Tiare Ribeaux and Qianqian Ye, UnCalculated Studio, Desna Whaanga-Schollum, Pasha Clothier, Nirma Madhoo, Clinton Watkins, and Liliana Conlisk-Gallegos. Branding and motion graphics for the project were developed by the ISEA WIL team animators Anna Melands and May Matsuda (supervised by Rewa Wright and Gavin Sade). Rewa also presented a peer-reviewed paper on her artistic research at the Ars Electronica Expanded Animation Conference, titled ‘ Towards the Eco-Digital: Animation with Plants, Data and Signals’.

ISEA2024 was a partnership between the University of Creative Arts (UK), Queensland Univeristy of Technology (Australia) and ISEA International.
